Pakatan Law of the jungle; disrespecting the decision of the DYMM Sultan in the appointment of the new State Secretary

Lim Kit Siang the DAP long time Supremo numero uno wrote a post on the Selangor SS appointment:

Defuse Selangor constitutional crisis by suspending Khusrin’s appointment or Najib’s slogan of an inclusive 1Malaysia government would suffer another irreparable blow

I find it  hypocritical that earlier on, the DAP, through Ronnie Liu had found it in them to ban the 1Malaysia logo in Selangor because of its political message so they say. However, in their effort to shore up support for what is now recognised as Pakatan Lawmakers refusal to accept Datuk Khusrin's appointment, they have stooped so low as to lick back their spit. (Jilat balik ludah sendiri) and shamelessly quoted 1 Malaysia as a basis for its lame argument.

In the first place there is NO Constitutional Crisis, the DYMM Sultan has made it known that the appointment of Datuk Khusrin as state Secretary is legal,  whether the MB and his Exco likes the SS or refuse to work with him is not a constitutional problem it is political. The MB and his Pakatan lawmakers just want to put up their lackey/crony as SS. Datuk Khusrin certainly do not fill their criteria as his name was not even on the list of the three candidates submitted to the DYMM Sultan by the MB.

The Pakatan law makers are acting like a fascist regime disloyal to the Monarchy when they refuse to have anything to do with the new SS Datuk Khusrin whose appointment has been consented by the DYMM Sultan in accordance with the procedures in line with Section 52(1) and 2(a) of the Selangor State Constitution 1959.

As usual with the Pakatan, if things do not go their way they will make a big fuss and blame the problem of their own making to the BN. Lim Kit Siang's suggestion for the Ketua Setiausaha Negara to suspend the post of the Selangor SS is preposterous as it is arrogant, what is that? Rule of law, rule by law? more like rule according to their law of the jungle.

The option that The Pakatan Government should take to save themselves from further embarrassment is for the MB to seek a dissolution of the DUN and call for fresh elections, provided of course they are confident that they can obtain 2/3rd majority. In 2008 it may be possible, but after two years in power Pakatan would consider themselves lucky if the could win 28 seats as I predict PKR and PAS will be decimated in the coming polls.

If they do not want to dissolve the DUN, fearing that they would lose their Government in an election then there is not much they can do except talk as they do not have the necessary 2/3rd majority to amend the Constitution.

If they think they want to dupe the people of Selangor that the futile attempt to amend the constitution is to restore the powers of the DYMM Sultan then this is the latest official statement from the Selangor Palace:

Selangor Palace Issue Strongly Worded Statement
4 January 2011 (NST)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Selangor has issued a royal command to the Selangor government to obtain his assent for its proposal to amend the state constitution.

This was contained in a strongly-worded statement issued by the Selangor palace in response to the controversy arising from the appointment of Datuk Khusrin Munawi as the State secretary.
In the latest development, the Selangor government had announced that it will call for an emergency assembly session to amend the constitution to return the power of appointing the state secretary to the sultan.

The statement, issued by Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, who is private secretary to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, hit out at state leaders for making inaccurate, excessive and inflammatory statements.

He singled out Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, Sri Muda assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei, State Assembly Speaker Datuk Teng Chang Khim, and Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San.

He described as inaccurate press statements made by Khalid on Tuesday that the Sultan did not have the authority to accept or reject candidates proposed by the Public Services Commission (PSC).

“What happened was that the names of candidates for the state secretary post were presented to His Highness by the Public Service Department (PSD) for deliberation in his capacity as the state government’s chief executive.
“His Highness gave his assent to one of the proposed candidates whereupon the choice of candidate was agreed by the PSC through a letter issued by the PSD and appointed in accordance to the provisions in Section 52(1) and 2(a) of the Selangor State Constitution 1959,” said Munir.

Munir said this was the convention in Selangor.

Munir criticised a blog posting by Shuhaimi and a newspaper article quoting Kampung Tunku assemblyman Lau Weng San.

He said Shuhaimi’s remarks in his Dec 30 posting that the Sultan was “beraja di mata, bersultan di hati” was excessive and could confuse the public.

“It can also be regarded as an attempt to warn the Sultan and to incite the rakyat to hate His Highness.”

Munir also drew attention to a newspaper article dated Dec 29, 2010, which quoted Lau as saying that the appointment of the state secretary can be made by the state public services commission.

He said although there are public services commissions in other states that can appoint the state secretary, in Selangor the authority lies with the PSC in line with the provisions in the Selangor State Constitution 1959.

Munir also said the swearing-in ceremony of the state secretary before the Sultan of Selangor will be held on Jan 6 at Istana Bukit Kayangan as planned.

This, he pointed out, was because to the knowledge of the Sultan, the new state secretary Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi has been appointed in accordance with the procedures in line with Section 52(1) and 2(a) of the Selangor State Constitution 1959.

“The ceremony is not a ceremony to appoint the new state secretary but an oath of loyalty of the state secretary to the Sultan to serve loyally, faithfully and in honesty to the state.”
