Selangor says MPSJ must withdraw Muslim ban

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — The Selangor government insisted today that the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) withdraw its recent ruling barring Muslims from working in outlets selling alcohol, saying that such a move would have “far-reaching consequences” for the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state. read more here.
I believed Liu is not telling the truth when he said that the "entire Selangor Exco agreed to withdraw the ruling". I know for certain that another PAS Exco YB Hasan Ali has publicly congratulated and thank the MPSJ for enforcing the Syariah Enactment Seksyen 18(2).
In fact, the day before, on 14 January 2011, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim the MB of Selangor was reported to have said:
Selangor to set up funds for Muslims affected by work ban
I think MB Khalid should haul up DAP Exco Ronnie Liu for ridiculing the Selangor State Government. Ronnie Liu should not escape with just a light slap on the wrist, he is mucking about with religious sensitivities.
Lets hear what the MB have to say and instruct, this time he has in his hands all the powers to decide what to do. No Federal Civil Servants or Barisan Nasional interference here, so they cannot become an excuse in this sensitive issue.
So would the words of a DAP Excos and a non Muslim be enough to prevail over the Selangor State Syariah Law. Please use your powers wisely MB Tan Sri, Sir.
We are all eagerly waiting for MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim's and his State Government's next move.
