KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said today he would not reveal details of a recent meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, but said he attended out of respect for the palace.
The Kelantan mentri besar also revealed that the invitation to the Christmas Eve dinner was conveyed to him by former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who in the aftermath of Election 2008 had attempted to form a unity government with PAS leaders.
He also confirmed that PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was present at the dinner.
“Out of respect for Tuanku’s order I attended the function,” he added.
The Malaysian Insider reported yesterday that Nik Aziz had attended a private Christmas Eve dinner, hosted by the King, with the prime minister and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Istana Terengganu. Read more here.
Is the unthinkable going to happen? PAS coming into the BN fold? But why not, DAP and PKR had shown little respect to PAS leaders and lawmakers and treating them in a very condescending way at every public opportunity.
Tok Guru Nik Aziz need not even say yes, his silence or no comment will make it happen. 2011 is shaping up to be a very interesting year indeed.
