RCI on Teoh Beng Hock's death start on 14 February 2011 - Valentine's day

Good Luck to Tan Sri James Foong and members of the RCI, you have a tough job ahead of you but I am sure that you will perform your duties to the highest possible standard and will do so without fear or favour. The news:

Commission on Teoh’s death begins hearing Monday

KUALA LUMPUR: The Commission of Inquiry to investigate the death of political aide Teoh Beng Hock begins hearing on Monday at the Court Complex in Jalan Duta here.

The first session of the commission, headed by Federal Court Judge James Foong Chen Yuen, is likely to determine the number of witnesses and the scope of the inquiry.

The commission is expected to call the first witness after deciding on several applications from Teoh's family and the Selangor government.

One application from Teoh's family was for their lawyers Karpal Singh and Gobind Deo to question witnesses.

The commission is tasked with investigating the death of Teoh and determining whether the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission followed procedure when questioning him as a witness when probing alleged misuse of Selangor government funds. With Foong in the commission are former Federal Court Judge Datuk Abdul Kadir Sulaiman, former Court of Appeal Judge Datuk T. Selventhiranathan, forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh of Penang Hospital, and Prof Dr Mohamed Hatta Shaharom, Dean of Cyberjaya Medical Science College University.

The commission is expected to complete its inquiry within three months. - Bernama

Whatever it is, I do hope that the RCI members do not indulge too much of their time with the father and son lawyer duo of Karpal and Gobind, they are not appointed by the DYMM Agung to tell the RCI how to conduct the Inquiry nor were they material witness to the case. Refer here.
