Anwar's ex-aide lodges police report alleging 2008 SDs "inaccurate"
Wednesday, October 6th, 2010 19:23:00(The Malay Mail)

KLANG: A former aide of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has lodged a police report over two allegedly "inaccurate" statutory declarations (SD) he was supposedly forced to make two years ago implicating the Prime Minister and his wife.

Rahimi Osman said he lodged the report at 2pm today at the Klang district police headquarters pertaining to two statutory declarations he made in 2008.

In the report, Rahimi alleged he was forced to sign the two SDs, which were related to the ongoing Sodomy II trial involving the Pakatan Rakyat defacto leader and another of the latter's ex-aide, Saiful Bukhari Azlan, on June 28, 2008.

It was claimed Rahimi was pressured into implicating Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor of masterminding a conspiracy against Anwar.

Soon after the report was lodged this afternoon, Rahimi, accompanied by several men, conducted a press conference at a nearby restaurant.

However, upon speaking to the press, Rahimi was stopped by several unknown men believed to be the members of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).

The press conference was cut short as the situation worsened with both parties seen exchanging words.

Rahimi, believed to be Saiful's former schoolmate, then left the restaurant and it was reported in a blog that he would conduct another press conference in Petaling Jaya but the exact time and location of the new press conference were unknown.

When contacted by The Malay Mail, Klang district police chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusof confirmed a report was lodged late this afternoon.

He declined to elaborate any further on the content of the report except to say the matter had been transferred to the Shah Alam district police.

It was, however, reported in an online news portal that Rahimi had claimed he was forced to sign the two SDs by PKR information chief Latheefa Koya and other party members at a hotel as he feared for his safety and was forced to stay at the hotel for a few days after signing the SDs.

The news portal also quoted Anwar's lead counsel Sankara Nair who refuted the ex-aide’s claims.

Sankara claimed Rahimi had signed the two declarations voluntarily after a meeting with Anwar’s lawyers at the hotel that day.

The report above also mentioned the possibility that Latheefa Koya was involved in forcing Rahimi to sign the two  purportedly "inaccurate" SD's in 2008, I understand she is a practising Lawyer, therefore, beside Anwar Ibrahim, I think she should also come out tonight or tomorrow at the latest to deny what is a very grave allegation against her and the other PKR members.
